Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and lead developmentally appropriate weekly Middle and Upper School chapel services and other special liturgies/programs for students, families, faculty, and staff with a focus on student leadership and involvement when appropriate. Assist with major religious celebrations on the South Campus. Teach Upper School Ethics, World Religions and other religious studies courses through engaging, age appropriate lessons. Provide support and instruction in Middle School religious education opportunities. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Offer pastoral care to North Campus students, families, faculty, and staff as requested or needed. Maintain and encourage regular prayer. Serve as a resource to faculty and staff in identifying and developing classroom lessons that correspond with the school’s mission, values, and Episcopal identity. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the Middle and Upper School service learning programs including planning and supervising service opportunities for Middle and Upper School students. Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations for outreach/service opportunities and communicate these opportunities to constituents. Represent the school as a priest associate at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in various capacities, including participating in preaching or celebrating the Eucharist at least twice per year. Serve on appropriate committees and administrative teams. Participate in the life of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi, serving as an advocate for the school and school ministry in general. Represent the school at various regional and national conferences. Participate in school-wide and departmental meetings, professional development programs, and other responsibilities associated with an Upper School and Middle School Faculty role Collaborate with the Chaplaincy team to offer opportunities for faith formation, interfaith dialogue, Bible study, confirmation classes, and other learning opportunities throughout the school. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional school environment. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Limited travel and weekend and evening work will be required.Qualifications Master of Divinity required. Ordained Episcopal clergy. One to three years of pastoral experience is required. Pastoral experience working with youth or in a school setting is preferred. Have a passion for pastoral ministry in an academic setting. Ability to cultivate strong relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff, while embracing the diverse backgrounds within the school community. Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Google Suite required.
