  • We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and ASL-fluent support staff member to work one-on-one with a high school student who is intellectually disabled and hard of hearing.
  • The student requires consistent communication support, academic assistance, and daily living guidance within the school environment.
  • The rate for the position is between $35 and $45.

Qualifications

Fluency in American Sign Language (required). Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities and/or hearing impairments preferred. Ability to follow individualized plans and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a supportive demeanor. Bachelor's degree required; additional training in special education, interpreting, or related fields preferred. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct 1:1 support to the student throughout the school day. Communicate effectively using American Sign Language (ASL) to ensure the student’s full access to classroom instruction, routines, and social interactions. Assist the student with understanding academic tasks, following directions, and staying engaged in lessons. Support the student with organization, behavior regulation, and transitions between activities or environments. Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and facility staff to implement the student’s IEP goals. Adapt communication and instructional strategies based on the student’s intellectual and hearing-related needs. Support safe navigation of the school environment and provide supervision as needed.
