- Supportive interactions with children that express verbal recognition and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
- Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
- Understands and observes all rules and regulations for local and state regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children, including required annual professional development hours on the topics specified, Maintaining CPR and First Aid certification Childcare Minimum Standards, NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practice NAEYC Code of Ethics Texas Rising Star Assesses each child's developmental progress and needs on an ongoing basis.
- Sets an example for children with an attitude of positive communication, problem solving, openness, patience, and firmness.
- Lives the Open Door values of Equity, Village, Child-led and Play to ensure that the classroom and school atmosphere is one of welcome and support to all children and families.
- Maintain direct communication daily with parents and families to provide updates in person, via class newsletters and electronically through Brightwheel.
- Implement approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with emergent curriculum practices, including activities that promote gross + fine motor development, cognitive, social and emotional development, and multi-cultural experiences.
- Conducts regular parent-teacher conferences and utilizes Teaching Strategies Gold assessment on specific developmental skills and goals.
- Collaborate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to classroom activities, including accident reports and emergency forms.
- Attends required staff meetings and training days.
- Participate in and support program activities, community initiatives and fundraising events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
