Job description

  • This is an ON-SITE full-time teacher position that will provide in-person academic instruction to patients at Connecticut Children’s in Hartford.
  • This includes 2 hours of daily classroom time M-F on our Integrated Care unit serving patients with co-existing medical and psychiatric diagnosis, and additional time spent 1:1 with eligible patients throughout other areas of the medical center.
  • The Education Specialist will work closely with each patient’s parent or guardian, medical team, school and district.
  • The position is year-round in accordance with the hospital calendar.
  • The Education Specialist provides individualized tutoring and academic support to hospitalized school-age children/adolescents.
  • Works cooperatively with the Local Education Agency to provide pertinent information for contracting and billing.
  • Acts as a liaison to the patient’s school and public-school districts.
