Position Title: Pal tutor (Summer program)

Position Summary

PAL Tutors provide academic support in Math and English to middle school students within a structured summer program. Tutors work closely with program staff and peers to deliver engaging lessons, support student learning, and contribute to a safe and structured camp environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Instruction & academic support
  • Provide small‑group and/or individual tutoring in Math and English for middle school students
  • Plan and deliver structured tutoring lessons aligned with program goals
  • Collaborate with fellow tutors to develop effective lesson plans and instructional strategies
  • Program support
  • Assist with student supervision during lunch, recess, and dismissal
  • Take daily attendance and help maintain accurate program records
  • Support a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students

Program timeline & expectations

  • Start of summer requirements
  • Attend a required tutor preparation meeting
  • Read and review the Tutor/Volunteer Manual
  • Prepare lesson plans for the first three tutoring sessions
  • Weekly responsibilities
  • Participate in team planning meetings to prepare tutoring lessons
  • Deliver scheduled tutoring sessions
  • Assist with supervision of students in common areas
  • Take attendance and assist with daily dismissal
  • End of summer
  • Submit all lesson plans and curricular materials to the Head of the Program

Compensation & schedule •

Hourly Rate

  • $16.94 per hour
  • Standard Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week
  • Maximum Weekly Hours: 48
  • Program Dates: June 29, 2026 – July 24, 2026
  • Paid Orientation: June 2026 TBD
