Position: Summer Programs Nurse

Reports to: Jake Ross

Department: Student Services

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Contract Length: 8 weeks

Dates: June 1 July 24 with possibility of remote June 1 – 12th

Hours: M-F, 7:45am – 3pm

Salary: $10,000

Position Summary

The Summer Programs Nurse fulfills the mission of Delbarton’s Summer Programs by providing general organizational and medical support within the framework of the school’s philosophy, organization, and policies. The Summer Programs Nurse has decision making responsibilities, such as assessing and treating student and staff health concerns within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies and NJ State Board of Nursing.

Position Responsibilities

  • Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Diocese Employee Handbook
  • Maintains current and accurate records according to school policy
  • Serves as a health advocate for the student; assesses student health needs; provides care of minor injuries and illnesses; administers authorized medications; and manages health records
  • Assumes responsibility for management and planning for acute, chronic, and emergency health problems, including appropriate referral and follow-through
  • Assists in communicable disease control through implementation of programs for student immunizations, management of suspected and diagnosed infectious disease
  • Initiates referral and follow-up on relevant health needs of the students, and make appropriate interpretation and distribution of health information
  • Prepares for inspections by Morris Township Board of Health, obtains necessary supplies and implements changes to policies and procedures after inspection.
  • Follows NJ Board of Health requirements for Youth Summer Camp Safety standards
  • Reviews all immunization records for all Summer School/Summer Camp students as required by New Jersey State Law
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff
  • Required Qualifications
  • Current New Jersey RN license
  • CPR/AED certified; First Aid
  • Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lifting or carrying 1-20 lbs.
  • Regular pushing/pulling/bending/stooping/kneeling
  • Regularly climbing stairs
  • Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
