Position Title: BCBA Practicum Intern Reports to: Clinical Director / Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Job Summary

The BCBA Practicum Intern will gain hands-on clinical experience within our ABA company while working toward the supervised fieldwork hours required for BCBA certification. This position is designed for graduate students currently enrolled in an approved ABA or behavior analysis program who are actively accumulating supervised independent or concentrated fieldwork hours under BACB guidelines. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, eager to learn, and passionate about delivering meaningful, ethical, and data-driven ABA services to clients and their families.

  • Key Responsibilities Client Services and Direct Therapy Support Assist in delivering 1:1 ABA therapy to clients under the direct supervision of a BCBA.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs as written and directed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Collect accurate and reliable behavioral data during every session using company data collection systems (e.g., ReThink).
  • Maintain professional and compassionate interactions with clients and their families at all times.
  • Assessment and Program Development Assist the supervising BCBA in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and preference assessments.
  • Support the development and modification of individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and ongoing data review.
  • Participate in graphing and analyzing client data to identify trends and inform clinical decisions.
  • Contribute to writing and updating behavior intervention plans and skill acquisition programs under BCBA supervision.
  • Supervision and Professional Development Attend and actively participate in scheduled individual and group supervision sessions with the supervising BCBA.
  • Complete all fieldwork documentation and supervision logs in accordance with BACB requirements and company policy.
  • Bring cases, data, and questions to supervision to support reflective clinical practice.
  • Pursue ongoing learning through professional readings, trainings, and team meetings as directed.
  • Staff and Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with RBTs, BCBAs, and clinical staff to ensure consistency across the client's programming.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and parent or caregiver training sessions as directed.
  • Provide feedback and modeling to RBT staff under the guidance and oversight of the supervising BCBA.
  • Communicate proactively with the clinical team regarding client progress, concerns, or changes in behavior.
  • Documentation and Compliance Complete session notes and required documentation accurately and on time in ReThink.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client records and information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Follow all company policies, ethical guidelines, and the BACB Professional and Ethical Compliance Code at all times.
  • Report any concerns related to client safety or welfare immediately to the supervising BCBA.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited Master's or Doctoral degree program in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field. Completion of or concurrent enrollment in coursework covering the BACB Task List (5th Edition). Eligible to accumulate supervised fieldwork hours toward BCBA or BCaBA certification under BACB guidelines. RBT certification is a plus but not required. Strong understanding of core ABA principles including reinforcement, data collection, and ethical practice. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, families, and clinical team members. Ability to receive and apply constructive feedback in a professional and growth-oriented manner. Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent schedule to support client programming. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information with discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ReThink or similar ABA practice management software is a plus.

Additional Information

This is an unpaid internship designed to fulfill BACB supervised fieldwork requirements. Candidates should confirm eligibility with their university program prior to applying. Supervision provided is in accordance with BACB supervision standards. The company will work with the intern's university to meet any additional academic requirements. Hours and schedule are flexible and will be arranged based on client availability and intern program requirements. Upon successful completion of the practicum, high-performing interns may be considered for open clinical positions within the company.
