Position Summary

The School Social Worker provides social, emotional, and behavioral support to students to promote academic success and overall well-being. The School Social Worker works collaboratively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to address barriers to learning and support a positive school environment. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Assess student needs and develop intervention plans to support academic and personal success. Assist students in developing coping skills, conflict resolution strategies, and positive behaviors. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address student concerns and improve school climate. Support the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans. Conduct risk assessments and respond to crisis situations involving students. Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources or service providers. Provide referrals to outside agencies when additional support services are needed. Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including student support teams and special education meetings. Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation. Assist in developing programs that promote student wellness, attendance, and positive behavior. Support family engagement and provide resources to families to help address student needs. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program. Valid state certification or licensure as a School Social Worker (if required by state regulations). Experience working with children and adolescents preferred. Strong communication, counseling, and collaboration skills. Knowledge of social-emotional development, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral interventions.
