Position Overview
ExcelPrep School is seeking a dedicated Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Behavior Technician (BT), or Paraprofessional to support students in our afterschool program in Champaign, Illinois. This role is ideal for a compassionate, reliable, and team-oriented professional who is committed to supporting the academic, behavioral, and social development of neurodiverse learners in a structured educational environment.
The Afterschool RBT/BT/Para will work directly with students to provide behavior support, facilitate engagement, reinforce learning and social goals, and help create a safe, positive, and productive afterschool experience.

ExcelPrep offers two distinct programs designed to meet the needs of diverse learners ages 3–13.
PreK–8 Academic Program
Our PreK–8 Academic Program is grounded in Direct Instruction and Precision Teaching. Instruction focuses on core academic skills—reading, writing, and mathematics—using explicit, systematic teaching methods that emphasize mastery, fluency, and generalization. This program is designed for students with learning disabilities and neurodiverse profiles who benefit from structured, data-driven instruction.
Clinical ABA Program (Ages 3–13)
Our ABA Program is cognition-linguistically based, emphasizing cognitive skill and social behavior learning within a structured instructional environment. The program integrates Applied Behavior Analysis with teaching strategies that support language development, reasoning, executive functioning, and social competence. Instruction is individualized, data-driven, and focused on building foundational skills that support learning, communication, and independence.

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct support to students in the afterschool program through structured supervision, behavior support, and skill-building activities
Implement individualized behavior support strategies and follow treatment or classroom support plans as directed
Support students with transitions, routines, self-regulation, communication, and peer interaction
Reinforce academic, social, behavioral, and independent living goals in a structured setting
Collect accurate data on student behavior, participation, and progress as required
Collaborate with teachers, BCBAs, therapists, and other team members to ensure consistency across programming
Assist with group activities, recreation, enrichment, homework support, and social skills opportunities
Maintain a safe, organized, and positive afterschool environment for students
Communicate professionally with supervisors and team members regarding student needs and progress
Follow all school policies, confidentiality requirements, and student safety procedures
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required
RBT credential preferred, but not required for all candidates
Experience working with children, preferably neurodiverse learners or students with behavioral, developmental, or learning needs
Ability to implement behavior support strategies consistently and professionally
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Ability to remain calm, patient, and responsive in a fast-paced school setting
Commitment to professional conduct, student dignity, and confidentiality
Ability to pass required background checks and meet all hiring requirements
Preferred Qualifications: Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification
Previous experience as a Behavior Technician, Paraprofessional, classroom aide, or support staff in a school or clinic setting
Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis, data collection, and behavior intervention practices
Experience supporting students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or other neurodiverse profiles
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, behavior analysis, special education, or a related field

Schedule: Part-time, after-school hours
Monday through Friday schedule based on program needs
Additional hours may be available depending on enrollment and staffing needs
Work Environment
This position is based on-site at ExcelPrep School in Champaign, IL. Staff work in a structured, collaborative environment focused on meaningful student outcomes, professional growth, and evidence-based practice.
