  • JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32 Work Shift: Variable days Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm; no weekends; no major holidays; 32 total weekly scheudled hours Job Summary: The Diabetes Educator is a licensed health care professional responsible and accountable for providing diabetes education in the outpatient settings and through community and professional education services.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from accredited program for specific field of health care professional. (Dietitian) Current state licensure. Minimum of three years clinical experience. Additional diabetes education experience highly preferred (inpatient and/or outpatient setting) Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) strongly preferred. Applicants are encouraged to successfully complete the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist certification examination within 6 months of obtaining the required experience hours and not to exceed 2 years from date of hire. Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Certification in Lifestyle Management, Stress Management or Weight Management is encouraged. Physical Demands: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
