Job description

Description The Parents Day Out (PDO) Teacher at Brainerd Baptist Church is responsible for fostering a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for children ages one to five. This is a ministry-first position focused on planting seeds of faith through Bible-based lessons, intentional play, and compassionate leadership. We are seeking energetic individuals who are passionate about early childhood development and sharing the love of Jesus with the next generation.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: Classroom Leadership: Execute age-appropriate lessons, crafts, and activities that align with the established PDO curriculum. Spiritual Guidance: Model Christ-like character; integrate Bible stories, worship, and prayer into the daily classroom routine. Operational Excellence: Ensure the classroom is prepared and welcoming before children arrive; manage weekly supplies and maintain an organized learning environment. Active Engagement: Facilitate learning by interacting with children at their level, including sitting on the floor or at child-sized tables. Safety & Transitions: Efficiently lead children through campus transitions and emergency drills. Adhere strictly to all safety and security guidelines provided by PDO Leadership.

Collaboration

Attend all scheduled training sessions and staff meetings; work closely with the PDO Coordinator to ensure program consistency and excellence.

Maintain a punctual, enthusiastic, and dependable presence; serve as a positive representative of Brainerd Baptist Church.

Physical Requirements & Skills Physical Agility

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds , move quickly during transitions, and easily transition from sitting on the floor to a standing position.

Communication

Ability to interact warmly and professionally with parents during daily drop-off and pick-up.

Compliance

  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with church personnel policies.
  • CPR
  • Certification : Must be CPR Certified or be willing to obtain Certification.

Education & Experience Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

Previous experience in childcare, preschool settings, or children’s ministry.
