Bellarmine College Preparatory, located in San José, California invites applications for a full-time Religious Studies teaching position beginning August 5, 2026 for preparatory meetings, with instruction starting on August 13, 2026. A Faculty member in the Religious Studies department is responsible for teaching a variety of classes across grades 9-12. As a Faculty member, you will have extensive interaction with students and will oversee their scholastic education and provide opportunities for their spiritual growth. In addition to a comprehensive catalogue of religious studies classes, the Bellarmine Religious Studies department also partners actively with Campus Ministry, Christian Service, and an extensive immersion program.

Responsibilities
- Teach multiple sections of Religious Studies
- Hold regular office hours and meet with students who need assistance
- Communicate regularly with parents and administrators to ensure the success of each student
- Collaborate with colleagues on Religious Studies curriculum development and implementation
- Promote the Mission of Bellarmine to form “men for and with others”
- Attend workshops and seminars to enhance teaching
- Collaborate with colleagues on professional growth projects
- Fulfill periodic substitution and prefecting responsibilities
- Actively partner with our Campus Ministry, Christian Service, and Immersion programs in the opportunities they provide for our students
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Experience teaching at high school or college levels
- Appreciation of Jesuit Spirituality
- Knowledge in the latest methodology and pedagogy for teaching Religious Studies at the high school level
- Familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree is preferred
- Experience of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 10 pounds, using proper lifting techniques
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or move around the applicable working environment as needed
- Ability to travel around our campus safely and comfortably
- Ability to use a keyboard (or an alternative input device) and other office equipment
- Ability to read information in printed material, on a computer screen, (often for extended periods of time) and/or on a mobile device/laptop
General Requirements
- This position is classified as a Regular Full-Time Exempt position; employees in exempt positions are expected to work as many hours as their job responsibilities require, which could include evenings and weekends

- This position will begin work on/about August 5th to prepare for the school year and is to be completed in accordance with the published school calendar as instructed by the school’s administration
