Job description

  • High Point University is seeking a part-time Physical Therapy Teaching Assistant.
  • The Physical Therapy Teaching Assistant (TA) is responsible for assisting the Core Faculty member predominantly in the classroom.
  • The TA is a physical therapist clinician who is interested in working more closely and more extensively with students while improving teaching skills under the mentorship of a Core Faculty member.
  • While mainly helping with lab-based/experiential components of each class, the TA who shows aptitude may be called upon to deliver a lecture or a component of a lecture.
  • Candidates will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and a desire to develop and refine teaching skills.

Qualifications

Education: Licensed physical therapist from an accredited physical therapy program (bachelors, masters or doctorate) On occasion, a new graduate who will sit for the national board examination in the near future will be considered Experience and Training: Clinical employment as a physical therapist For the new graduate, successful completion of all clinical experiences Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Expertise in the specialty area of physical therapy in which assistance with teaching occurs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Didactic or clinical teaching Assist Core Faculty member with student learning, evaluation and assessment Maintenance of a clean and safe classroom environment Other duties as directed by the Course Director Any questions related to this position should be sent to Dr. Jeff Taylor, Chair and Associate Professor of Physical Therapy, jtaylor@highpoint.edu.
