- Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly Have the ability to confidently assist with private swim lessons as well as small group lessons Helps to prevent injury by enforcing pool rules Act as part of the rescue team in the event of any emergency while on duty at the aquatic facility Must attend the preseason in-service training Core Competencies The following list represents the core competencies needed for success in this position. Patience and respect when communicating with young children and their parents The ability to maintain emotional stability and self-control The ability to take direction from lead lifeguards and instructors Understanding the facilities EAP and being prepared to use it Qualifications Acquire CPR/First Aid certification prior to working a shift The ideal candidate will have completed a junior lifeguarding program Must be at least 14 years of age or in high school Must be able to pass a background check or secure a work permit if still in high school

- Demands: Must have the ability to swim 400 yards in 10 minutes, 30 seconds. Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes without use of arms. Must be able to assist in removing a victim from the water using a backboard.
