Job description
Description This position will plan, develop, integrate, and administer training of a generalized nature for direct support professionals, administrative, supervisory and managerial personnel. This position will ensure all staff are properly trained and educated according to the requirements of WCDC, Developmental Disability Administration (DDA), and other required policies and procedures.
Hours
The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (may vary depending on training schedule).
Rate of Pay
Up to $21.64 per hour
Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
Makes recommendations to the supervisor for possible improvements in training methods, course content, coverage, facilities and equipment, the selection of candidates for training, and the need for new programs. Participates in the study of agency operations to determine training needs. Obtain and maintain active Instructor certifications in order to teach Mandt, CPR/AED/First Aid, and other trainings as required. Plans and administers agency training programs such as, but not limited to, Mandt, CPR/AED & First Aid, Intro to DDA, etc. Plans and implements supervisory management training courses. Evaluates the effectiveness of training courses in terms of employee participation and results achieved. Develops or assists in developing training manuals and guides. Makes recommendations for future changes and modifications of training programs and safety programs. Maintain records and scheduling process for DDA required Certified Medication Technicians (CMT) training for new hires and recertification of current direct support professionals. Create, administer, and compile data from employee surveys. Maintains training files on all staff to ensure required training certificates or recertifications are on file for future review/audits. Maintains a library of training and safety materials. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the objectives of employee training and its relationship to the personnel functions. Knowledge of standard training methods, techniques and materials available for use in training, including the construction of lesson plans. Ability to plan, organize and administer agency-wide training programs for clerical, supervisory and managerial personnel, and to evaluate their effectiveness. Ability to research, analyze and formulate statements of training needs and goals. Ability to present training materials. Ability to obtain pertinent information from working, supervisory and managerial personnel. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, contractors, and training candidates.
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license, and approved to transport clients. License may not be Provisionals and have a driving record that reflects responsibility and maturity. Complete all DDA Core Training successfully.
Education/Experience
A High School Diploma/GED, 1 - 2 years of customer service, administrative, and training experience required. Associates degree and human resources experience highly preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Experience
Must be able to stand and walk 90% of work time, sit and/or drive 10%. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 60 pounds, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. All of the requirements are necessary to properly supervise and assist individuals with disabilities. Should be able to climb stairs/ladder and have good balance. Vision is required to drive.
