Job description

Mission: To provide the department of psychiatry with expertise in the field of psychotherapy

Reports To: Director of Psychiatry, Chief of Psychology

Responsibilities

  • 1.
  • Provides lectures, readings, seminars, assignments, clinical supervision and other training activities pertaining to the practice of psychotherapy to psychiatry residents, psychology externs, and others, as appropriate 2.
  • Participates in creation of curricula as indicated in coordination with Chief of Psychology 3.
  • Reviews clinical case material and assists in the development of psychotherapy skills 4.
  • Evaluates students’ progress In competencies related to psychotherapy and participates in faculty meetings

Qualifications

1. Education Required

Master’s Degree or above in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or mental health counseling 2. Minimum three years’ experience practicing psychotherapy 3. Minimum one year experience providing clinical supervision of psychotherapy

Knowledge and Skills

1. Knowledge of a variety of theoretical models for the treatment of patients with psychiatric illness and the ability to apply then 2. Knowledge of supervisory approaches and the ability to critique and supervise residents, interns and externs 3. Knowledge of ethical principles related to the practice of psychotherapy and the capacity to apply them

Shift: Per diem position, as needed basis

Working Conditions

No direct contact with patient population. Preference for in-person training, but hybrid or remote (Microsoft Teams) is possible, at the discretion of the Chair of Psychiatry and Chief of Psychology
