Direct Support Professional / Caregiver – Special Needs Experience preferred 📍 Delaware, OH 43015 (Near Ohio Wesleyan University) A single parent in Delaware, Ohio is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Direct Support Professional/Caregiver with special needs experience to provide one-on-one support for their joyful 5-year-old son, who has Down syndrome. The young boy is a happy, affectionate child who loves to smile, give hugs, and connect with others. He enjoys puzzles, dinosaurs, Legos, outdoor play, and trips to the park, and thrives with a caregiver who is patient, playful, and encouraging.
Schedule Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday
- 11:00 AM – 5:00
- PM
- Saturdays: Hours TBD 20–25 hours per week Full-time hours available during the summer
Responsibilities
Provide consistent, one-on-one care in home and community settings Support feeding and fine motor skills during meals Assist with speech and communication, including use of a communication device Encourage developmental growth through play-based activities and routines Supervise outings to parks and outdoor spaces Promote independence while maintaining a safe, supportive environment
Qualifications
Previous experience supporting children with special needs is a plus Experience with Down syndrome, feeding delays, speech development, or AAC devices strongly preferred Patient, compassionate, and dependable Enjoys being active, engaging, and building meaningful relationships Comfortable working closely with a single-parent household This is a rewarding opportunity for a caregiver who is passionate about supporting children with special needs and becoming a trusted part of a loving family’s routine.
