  • Shift: Day SUMMER COACH (SPORTS CAMPS) The Summer Coach provides leadership, mentorship, and supervision to groups of students participating in the SEI Sports Camps. Coaches are responsible for assessing and implementing techniques to hone each students strengths while improving on their weaknesses. Candidates should have previous experience working with young people in an academic or recreational setting. This position reports to assigned SEI Program Manager. This position requires advanced knowledge of and experience working with the African American community. This would be demonstrated by knowledge of the traditions, values, and customs of the community being served as well as the ability to identify specific examples of experience (professional and lived) working directly with individuals and families who identify with the African American community. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain positive relationships with participating youth. Participate in assigned recreational activities. Monitor and supervise students in the classroom, gym, outside are, etc. Develop fundamental skills and team cohesion. Establish and maintain positive relationships and serve as role model for students. Troubleshoot and problem solve appropriate program issues regarding students. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS Direct experience in the areas related to this position desired. Outstanding leadership, coaching and mentoring skills. Effective classroom and group management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm for working with youth of various social, educational and economic levels. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
