Position Summary

The School Therapist provides behavioral health services within a school-based setting to support students' emotional, social, behavioral, and academic success. Working collaboratively with school personnel, families, and community partners, the School Therapist conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, provides counseling services, and assists students in overcoming barriers that impact their well-being and educational performance. The School Therapist serves as a liaison between the school, family, and community resources while promoting a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment for students. Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to: Understand and agree to comply with the TPC Wellness mission statement. Conduct behavioral health screenings, assessments, and evaluations to identify student needs. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with students, families, school personnel, and other treatment providers. Provide individual, group, and family therapy services utilizing evidence-based practices. Deliver crisis intervention services and assist with risk assessments, safety planning, and stabilization efforts. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic medical record. Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, guidance counselors, school nurses, and other educational professionals to support student success. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, 504 Plan meetings, Student Assistance Teams, and other school-based support meetings as appropriate. Provide consultation and behavioral health education to school staff regarding student mental health needs and effective interventions. Assist students and families in accessing community resources and support services. Monitor treatment progress and modify interventions as clinically appropriate. Facilitate psychoeducational groups addressing topics such as coping skills, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, substance use prevention, and social skills development. Maintain communication with parents/guardians regarding treatment goals, progress, and recommendations, while adhering to confidentiality regulations. Develop discharge and transition plans when services are no longer required. Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and required trainings. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, school district, and agency regulations, including educational services and HIPAA requirements. Represent TPC Wellness professionally within school and community settings. Provide occasional transportation if needed for individuals served.

Qualifications

Required Licensure Licensed Social Worker (LSW) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) LISW-S or LPCC-S preferred Licensure must remain active and in good standing with the State of Ohio. Education Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field required. Experience Experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred. Previous school-based behavioral health experience preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and evidence-based therapeutic practices preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical assessment and counseling skills. Knowledge of child and adolescent development. Understanding of school systems, educational supports, and community resources. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community providers. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage crisis situations effectively and professionally. Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout school buildings. Ability to travel between school locations and TPC Wellness facilities as needed. Ability to perform job duties in both office and school environments.
