  • Range: $24.00 - $24.00 HourlyThis is a temporary position that will consist of 5 weeks FTE, 1 week PTE. Summer Program Counselor will work with BWC Summer Program Coordinator to provide summer program activities and services to at risk youth, 17-24 years empowering youth to make healthy life choices. The Summer Program Counselor under the supervision of Bill Wilson Center Safe Summer Initiative Program Coordinator and BWC Staff creates a safe, fun, and supportive environment for youth who are in need of stabilization due to being at risk.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Chaperone /Drive youth to weekly field trips. Mentor, coach, provide active listening to youth in program. Model age appropriate problem solving skills, conflict resolution and healthy lifestyle choices. Support staff during group activities. Complete daily documentation requirements. Coordinate recreational activities and participate and/or instruct youth games. Utilize therapeutic interventions and redirection to moderate youth behavior. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when crises or conflict arises. Assist with housekeeping duties in the classroom to ensure cleanliness and tidiness at all times. Regular attendance of scheduled shifts is a requirement of the position Other duties as assigned. Qualifications One to two years related experience and working with youth preferred. Must be punctual, efficient and organized. Basic knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies desired. Candidate must have experience working with youth of various racial, ethnic, socioeconomic backgrounds or sexual identity as well as in different cultural environments. Good communication skills desired. Valid California driver's license with access to a personal vehicle Fingerprint/background check and TB test required.
