Job description

Part-Time- English communication professor

  • Part-time teaching position to offer courses at the undergraduate level in the face-to-face modality and daytime hours, with emphasis on the development of oral and written communication skills in English, in which the following competencies are promoted:
  • Strengthen each student to find his or her voice in oral and written communication.
  • Explore the communicative functions of text as an intellectual, creative, social, artistic, scientific, and political manifestation, among others.
  • Critically analyze diverse texts and audiovisual products related to contemporary issues.
  • Argue a position and explain it coherently both orally and in writing.
  • Required education, experience, and skills
  • A Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language), English, Communication Studies, or a related field. Homologation must be provided if the degree is from an institution outside the United States or Puerto Rico.
  • Teaching experience in higher education institutions (minimum two years).
  • Use diverse teaching methodologies to strengthen oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Skilled in engaging students in real-world, interactive language tasks (e.g., discussions, role-playing, debates) that improve language fluency.
  • Competent in teaching language through subject-specific content, seamlessly incorporating bilingual materials to develop language and subject matter knowledge.
  • C-2 English Proficiency (certified)
  • Proficiency in the use of a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Knowledge of the learning assessment process.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Possess leadership qualities.
  • Availability to work different schedules.
  • Preferably, teaching experience in the use of ZOOM and CANVAS.
