Description Before and After School Assistant
Location: Varies between Amelia, Clough, Merwin, Summerside, Willowville, and WT
Hours
Seasonal, 6:30am-8:20/9:20am and 2:30/3:30-6pm We follow the West Clermont School District schedule for breaks, holidays, etc... (This position will have orientation on July 27th-29th. And you will tentatively begin normal working hours on August 12th.)
Degree Required
High School Diploma or GED.
Pay Rate: Compensation for this position is $16/hour

- Adhere to agency policies and procedures including state and federal regulations. Act as a role model within and outside the agency. Perform duties as workload necessitates. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload. Consistently report to work on time prepared to perform duties of position. Adjust to changed work times based on program needs which may include flexible work times as well as occasional evening hours. Able to work with diverse families and children including children with special needs. Possess the interpersonal skills needed to work as a team member (communicate thoughts clearly, accept assigned duties, use effective problem-solving skills). Meet all training requirements for position including any additional training required by Supervisor. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all areas when working with clients, staff, management, community members and records. Observe mandated reporter status at all times, reporting any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to Children’s Protective Services immediately.

- RESPONSIBILITIES: Meet requirements of and perform duties according to DCY regulations. Assist with learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, arts and technology. Provide a safe developmentally appropriate environment that promotes learning in all areas of development using a “hands on” approach. Encourage a classroom community by promoting positive relationships, classroom rules, and problem solving. Encourage and engage children during snack time, free choice, outdoor play, and other times throughout before and after school. Attends and participate in staff meetings, site events, and parent meetings as requested. Ensure classroom environment, equipment and outdoor playgrounds are safely maintained in conjunction with state guidelines. Participate in recruitment of families and help maintain full enrollment and attendance. Maintain a friendly and welcoming environment for parents, children and families. Other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator and/or Program Administrator.

- RESPONSIBILITIES: All staff are responsible for the supervision of children in our program when working directly with them in a classroom setting. Staff included in the ratio or who are working one-on-one with a child assume primary responsibility for the supervision of children.

Qualifications
Must be free and clear of all child abuse and neglect charges and have a satisfactory criminal records check in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Possess a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and meet insurance coverage criteria OR have a reliable means of transportation to and from work. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma required; some related experience preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be physically and mentally able to carry out job duties. Able to pass employment physical demonstrating ability to stoop, crawl, kneel, bend and to lift, carry and hold child of 40 to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for 30 minutes, walk and run up to 20 feet. Ability to maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times.
