Description COMMUNITY LIVING TECHNICIAN (Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services) Saturday and/or Sunday 2pm - 10pm
CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK The primary responsibilities of this position consist of teaching, assisting, and implementing community living skills. Activities include, but are not limited to, assisting with direct personal care, instrumental activities of daily living, assisting with routine and emergency medical care, accessing community activities, and organizing and arranging basic needs for the individuals in supervised living.
- EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains documentation as evidence that all duties are completed in accordance with program requirements contained in the Mississippi Department of Mental Health Operational Standards.
- Maintains proper training, continuing education, qualifications, and other certifications required for this position as written in the Mississippi Department of Mental Health Operational Standards.
- Assists individuals in all areas of physical care and hygiene as needed including but not limited to bathing, dressing, shaving and brushing teeth.
- Assists with basic independent living necessities, such as banking, bill paying, and social activities.
- Assists with turns and positions for non-ambulatory consumers.
- Uses appropriate behavioral management techniques when interacting with consumers.
- Participates in recreational and social activities for individuals as needed.
- Prepares and participates in instructional training and groups.
- Assists with meal planning and preparation, as well as grocery shopping.
- Assists in scheduling and attends appointments for physical health care, as well as ensuring individuals understand what doctors are discussing Provides transportation for individuals to and from daily activities, including work.
- Directly monitors individuals at all times.
- All other duties as assigned by Supervisors.
Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Development equivalent. Typing, transcription skills and computer skills required. Good communication skills. Valid Mississippi Driver’s license. Must pass a criminal background check.
