Job description
Position Summary
This position will conduct outreach to other community-based organizations to raise awareness of the unique needs of the target community and increase capacity to serve this population; market and promote Project Connect to the target communities to ensure that programs and services are appropriate, well-branded and reflective of the needs of the community; represent Project Connect as well as Apicha Community Health Center at various health fairs and other community events; recruit and retain a core group of mentors to provide a safe-space and supportive community for youth; facilitate a series of informal roundtable discussions with volunteer mentors and young LGBTQI participants covering a wide range of topics (i.e., building supportive networks and self-esteem, coming out to family members and in the workplace); work closely with other Community Health Education program staff and volunteer peer navigators within the Community Health Education program and Apicha CHC; help recruit volunteers from target populations; support and meet with volunteers at least once a month; attend all required meetings and trainings; and assist with administrative duties for the CHE HIV Prevention and Project Connect.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of health seeking behavior of target population or health belief of target population
- Experience in peer education strongly preferred
- Ability to communicate in English
- Fluency in one or more A&PI languages preferred
- High energy with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to reach and recruit program participants from target community.
