As a Summer Camp Counselor you will be responsible for providing direct supervision and care for children ages 3 to 14 in summer camp program. Under the guidance of the Site Director, facilitates a diverse range of engaging activities, including team building exercises, sports, arts and crafts, and other structured, age appropriate programming. Ensures a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants, while upholding the Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles of the District.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervises a group of children, 3 to 14 years of age, throughout daily activities, including lunchtime. Closely monitors morning drop off and afternoon sign off process (attendance). Diligently plans and implements daily activities, both active and passive, in the areas determined by the Site Director. Actively provides campers with a positive camp experience while monitoring the care and safety of each child through active participation in all aspects of the program. Activities include but ae not limited to sports, games, arts and crafts, swimming (summer camp), and field trips. Professionally acts as liaison between the parents, children and Site Director in a courteous and positive manner. Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures, policies set forth in the Employee Handbook and other program manuals, policies, and procedures issued by the Northbrook Park District. Routinely keeps the program site neat and clean and all equipment and supplies in good order. Participates in staff meetings and all orientation and training sessions. Routinely assists with implementing severe weather and crises management procedures when needed. Wears a Northbrook Park District staff uniform at all times when on duty. Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner. Follows safe work practices. Performs related duties as assigned. QualificationsMust be at least 16 years of age and have some experience working hands on with children; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills.
