Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field required
- Minimum two years of training experience, preferably in the Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) field
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor peers or junior trainers
- Strong ability to engage and manage large groups and provide constructive feedback
- Proven ability to design and develop curriculum on a broad range of topics
- Excellent organizational, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Suite, Relias or related LMS systems, Zoom, and other related technology
- Valid NY State Driver’s License required
- Willingness to travel within Long Island, Queens, and NYC
- Willingness to conduct Evening and Weekend trainings
Responsibilities
- Include but are not limited to
- Conduct New Employee Orientation, New Management Orientation, and other onboarding sessions focused on agency operations, regulatory requirements, and software applications
- Conduct SCIP and CPR initial and recertification trainings
- Facilitate in-person, virtual, and hybrid training programs across the organization
- Develop, update, and maintain training curriculum, manuals, competency assessments, and supporting materials in alignment with regulatory standards and organizational needs
- Mentor and support Staff Trainers through onboarding, co-facilitation, observation, and feedback to ensure consistent and high-quality training delivery
- Assist with standardizing training materials and delivery practices across the department
- Assist in coordinating training schedules, classroom logistics, and training resources to support department operations
- Assist with monitoring training compliance and certification tracking through the Learning Management System, and assist in preparing reports related to participation and compliance rates
- Lead or support special projects and initiatives designed to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Training Department
- Serve as a departmental resource for training-related questions and problem solving
- Provide operational support and act as a point of contact in the absence of the Assistant Director when needed
- Participate in agency’s Strategic Planning operation and be the department’s representative on Long Term Objective Committees as assigned
- Attain and maintain certifications or competencies for training in SCIP-R, CPR/First Aid, and OPWDD Choking Prevention Initiative
- Perform other duties as assigned
