  • Range: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 Salary/yearThe Middle School seeks an experienced teacher of Spanish and French who will ignite a love of world languages and cultures in students. This position includes teaching both Spanish and another world language, likely French, to middle school students. Compensation for this position will generally be offered in the range of $55,000 - $70,000. Individual offers will be specific, and based on education, experience, and benchmarking parameters. Essential Functions The teacher will inspire and engage students in the study of World Languages Have experience with, and be interested in functioning as an advisor to Middle School aged students Contribute to McDonogh by either coaching or fulfilling an activity or responsibility outside of the classroom as assigned by the Head of the Middle School (coaching, for example) Be experienced in, and have a willingness to collaborate with other colleagues within the Middle School and across divisions to integrate the subject of World Languages throughout curriculum and grades of the School Express a clear interest in becoming an active member of the McDonogh community by participating in school activities and working with students outside of the classroom environment Demonstrate a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development Overtly support and act in accordance with the McDonogh school mission QualificationsA bachelor's degree and preferably coursework in the teaching of Spanish and/or French as a second language. Additional Experience A positive disposition and ability to function within a highly motivated and fast paced team A strong work ethic, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times A track record of working with colleagues to promote the French and/or Spanish languages and cultures outside of the language classroom A willingness to integrate technology into the curriculum Ability to effectively collaborate with other constituents within the McDonogh community Excellent organizational skills Experience with Google (Docs/Sheets/Apps/Email) Familiarity with independent schools and previous experience in an educational setting is preferred Looking for a minimum of 2 years experience teaching, preferably in a Middle School. Must have proven problem solving skills, be self motivated, and adaptable Strong attention to detail Strong conflict resolution skills Strong technology skills- Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel) Strong work ethic, and ability to work independently Strong written and verbal communication skills The desire and willingness to assist colleagues outside of the job description Additional Requirements Experience successfully working with a culturally diverse staff & community also required. Must be able to comply with background check, including finger prints, as required by the agency and / or state regulations. Must possess personal qualifications as required, flexibility, patience, good personal hygiene and physical and mental health that do not interfere with responsibilities. Years of subject matter experience, specifically teaching World Languages (Spanish and French) Working Conditions Evening and weekend hours may be required from time to time. Lifting and carrying of equipment is not typical, but may be required on rare occasions. Sitting. Standing. Walking around campus.
