Job description
As an MEC Math Corps Lead Interventionist you’ll support students in grades K-3 as they build foundational math and problem-solving skills. You’ll work with students in pairs during the school day, helping them practice math skills, build confidence, and get back on track in math. You’ll use evidence-based, scripted interventions.
Lead Interventionists are experienced Corps members who continue delivering student interventions while also providing informal support to other members at their site or within their region.

- Help students build core math skills and problem-solving strategies
- Encourage confidence, persistence, and positive learning habits
- Track student progress using simple tools and guidance
- Offer guidance and peer support to fellow Corps members serving at your site and/or within your region.

Schedule & Commitment
- Monday–Friday | 37.5 hours per week
- 7.5 service hours per day
- Requires 5 days per week

Compensation & Benefits
- Stipend: $1,325.10 - $1,258.80 every other week before taxes; stipend amount dependent upon school placement (~$2,650.20 - $2,517.60 per month before taxes)

Minimum Requirements
- Must be currently serving with Michigan Education Corps as an AmeriCorps member in the 2025-26 program year.
- Must be 18 years or older by start date
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
- Ability to pass required background checks
- Fewer than 4 prior AmeriCorps State/National service terms
