Job description
Description Y.O.U. seeks volunteers to help with our SUMMER 2026 program. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who want to enhance their understanding of youth development, impact youth lives, and/or gain community service credit.
Volunteers will work with youth in our Elementary (Washington School, Evanston, IL) or Middle School (Nichols Middle School, Evanston, IL) Programs. Opportunities for those interested in STEAM could be assigned to our MakerSpace located at Y.O.U. Headquarters.

Volunteer Responsibilities
- Assists summer staff in facilitating activities for a group of up to 15 students through social, emotional, and academic enrichment programs designed to support elementary or middle school students.
- Supports planning and delivery of lessons that focus on literacy skill development, sports, STEAM, social-emotional enrichment, and healthy relationships.
- Provides support during field trips and other off-site activities.
- Builds positive relationships with youth that support their success and well-being.
- Supervise youth during program hours in a safe, sensitive, developmentally-appropriate, positive manner.
- Help youth build healthy, positive relationships with each other, with adults, and with their families.
- Demonstrates professional behavior that supports team efforts and enhances team behavior, performance, and productivity.

Requirements: Volunteer Requirements
18 years or older Commit to volunteering during the summer session with a consistent schedule Complete a fingerprint background check and other requirements Complete Mandated Reporter Training Proven record of dependability Have a passion for Y.O.U.’s mission Possess an open, nonjudgmental attitude
Volunteers will receive an orientation and training in youth development practices and strategies to support their work.
