Compensation

  • Camp Counselors earn $250 per week. This is a seasonal, stipend-based position paid bi-weekly. Counselors are required to attend at least 5 of the 7 weekly camp sessions and the required week long staff training.
  • General
  • Description: Be part of a team of peers working with a group of children for camp sessions. Live with the children, supervise their involvement in camp activities and facilitate their growth and development. Coordinate the planning, implementation, and supervision of camp programs.
  • QualificationsQualifications: 1. Be at least 17 years of age. 2. Be qualified to serve as an instructor or assistant instructor in one or more program areas. 3. Demonstrate sound leadership skills and interest in working with children. 4. Present a positive image of the camp and of self. 5. Have the ability to work independently without continual supervision. 6. Hold or be able to obtain current CPR & First Aid Certification. 7. Demonstrate maturity and responsibility. 8. Possess sound judgment and decision-making skills. 9. Have the ability to work as a member of the staff team. 10. Be well organized, creative, energetic, enthusiastic and have a good moral character. 11. Have the ability to work and communicate with volunteers on an ongoing basis. 12. Cooperate with the goals and objectives of the camp.

  • Responsibilities: 1. Participate in the pre-camp staff training, in service training, and staff meetings. 2. Be responsible for health, safety and welfare of assigned campers. 3. Assist campers in planning daily and weekly schedules. 4. Show active, authentic concern for campers throughout the session. 5. Provide leadership as an instructor or assistant instructor in program areas. 6. Develop and maintain healthy, cooperative atmosphere within the cabin group and the camp. 7. Communicate all concerns and needs with the Program Director and Camp Director. 8. Complete LIT performance evaluation. 8. Serve as a program resource to other staff members. 9. Assist in planning and implementation of all camp activities and special programs. 10. Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by Camp Director.
