Overview
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for delivering lesson plans and ensuring a high-quality learning environment in the absence of a certified teacher. This role upholds the program's academic standards while fostering a safe and nurturing atmosphere for students.
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement the curriculum aligned with Missouri Learning Standards as provided by the Summer Program.
- Maintain an engaging and structured classroom environment that supports student learning.
- Follow the lesson plans left by the assigned teacher, ensuring continuity in instruction and activities.
- Report significant behavioral or academic concerns to the Site Director for appropriate intervention.
- Conduct assigned classes at the designated times and locations.
- Enforce program rules and expectations consistently.
- Monitor students’ academic progress and communicate any concerns to the Site Director.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, parents, and visitors.
- Attend all required teacher training sessions.
- Adhere to all Summer Program policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Valid Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education substitute teaching certification.
- Strong ability to engage with children, parents, and staff effectively.
- Experience in planning and leading activities that align with program objectives.
- Successful completion of a background screening.
