Job description

Required Qualifications In addition to the requirements for each role list above, applicants must: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or related field preferred) Experience working with individuals with severe behavioral challenges, autism, or mental health conditions preferred Ability to remain calm, responsive, and professional in high-stress or crisis situations Strong interpersonal and communication skills Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed Ability to pass background checks and meet agency compliance requirements Completion of Safety Care Training Curriculum Completion of CPR Completion OF IBT CBI Training Program Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to obtain within specified timeframe Training in crisis intervention (e.g., CPI, Safety-Care, or similar) Experience with dual diagnoses (developmental disabilities and mental health conditions) Knowledge of trauma-informed care and applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles Core Competencies Crisis management and de-escalation Trauma-informed care Behavioral observation and data collection Professional boundaries and ethical practice Adaptability and critical thinking Team collaboration Responsibilities and Requirements As part of their employment, employees must: Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), safety plans, and crisis protocols with high fidelity Provide intensive, in-the-moment behavioral support during acute episodes (e.g., aggression, self-injury, elopement) Utilize trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to de-escalate and stabilize individuals Collect accurate, real-time data on behaviors, antecedents, and outcomes Support development of functional communication, coping, and self-regulation skills Maintain a safe environment for clients, caregivers, and team members Assist with crisis prevention and intervention, including use of approved safety procedures Collaborate with caregivers, therapists, school personnel, and interdisciplinary team members Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development Document sessions, incidents, and progress in accordance with agency and regulatory standards Support community-based interventions, including outings, school support, and transition planning Respond appropriately in situations that may involve emergency services or law enforcement Work Environment & Physical Requirements ● High-intensity work environment with potential exposure to aggressive or self-injurious behaviors ● Ability to stand, move quickly, and implement physical safety interventions when necessary ● May include home, clinic, school, or community-based settings ● Must be able to lift, block, or assist individuals as required for safety (per training and policy) Why This Role Matters This position plays a vital role in supporting individuals with complex behavioral and mental health needs to remain safely in their homes, schools, and communities—reducing the need for hospitalization, out-of-home placement, or involvement with the legal system.
