Position Summary
The English Teacher will lead students in the study of literature, grammar, composition, and rhetoric within the classical tradition. Instruction emphasizes close reading, careful textual analysis, and thoughtful writing grounded in significant works of the Western literary tradition. Students encounter texts that develop moral imagination, intellectual depth, and eloquent expression. The teacher guides students in developing strong reading habits, analytical thinking, and clear written communication while cultivating a classroom culture that values attentiveness, discussion, and intellectual virtue. This position requires delivering rigorous classical instruction in an engaging virtual environment while maintaining strong relationships with students and families. Primary Responsibilities Plan and deliver rigorous English instruction aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Lead students in the close reading and analysis of literary works and historical texts Teach grammar, composition, and rhetoric through structured writing instruction Facilitate thoughtful discussion and textual analysis through Socratic dialogue Provide detailed feedback on student writing to support the development of clear and persuasive expression Assess student progress through essays, exams, projects, and other assessments Maintain strong communication with students and families in a virtual environment Participate in faculty collaboration, curriculum development, and professional development aligned with the Founders mission Use technology in ways that support learning while preserving the text-centered nature of classical literary study
Qualifications
