Job description
Position Summary
- An intern physician participates in an organized post graduate educational program in which they have daily contact with patients and assume increasing responsibility for their care under the supervision of the attending staff of the hospital. The assumption of responsibility is the most important aspect of intern training. As each intern physician demonstrates increasing knowledge and ability, an increasing amount of reliance should be placed in their judgment in the diagnosis and in treatment of patients. The physicians are given the opportunity to put into practice the principles of preventive medicine, diagnoses, therapy and patient management which they learned as medical students. Under the supervision of the attending staff, they are given progressively increasing responsibility to the end that he acquires confidence in their clinical judgment. For the training to be approved, the hospital where the residency is served must be approved by the Board of Directors of Palmetto General Hospital, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and/or the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Position Qualification: 1. Must be a graduate of an osteopathic or allopathic post-graduate clinical education approved medical school or in good academic standing with an anticipated graduation date prior to commencing program at facility. 2. Must have passed the Level 1 and 2 of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) or the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) 3. If transferring into the program, post PGY 1, the program must obtain written or electronic verification of previous educational experiences and a summative competency-based evaluation of the transferring resident prior to acceptance into the program. Required Licenses/Certifications: 1. Current BLS and ACLS certification required 2. Must have registered with the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine or Florida Board of Medicine as a *Physician-in-Training
- Must clear background and drug test required.
