Job description

Summary

The Prevention Counselor is directly responsible for the delivery of Prevention services to the target populations. This position reports directly to the Senior Counselor.

Essential

Duties: and Responsibilities:

  • Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Conducts assessments and Intakes.
  • Development and implementation of service plans.
  • Provides individual, group counseling and rap sessions.
  • Conducts workshops.
  • Conducts community drug education forums.
  • Facilitates evidence based programs.
  • Facilitates other pro social and recreational activities.
  • Plans and participates in community cultural and recreational activities.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate record keeping.
  • Liaison between referral sources.
  • Participates in team meetings for the development of work plans.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Attends on going trainings for skill development.
  • Models professional behaviors.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • CPS or CPP; or CASAC-T with 1+ years of experience in the provision of prevention services, meeting the 60 hour Prevention specific trainings, and actively working towards obtaining CPS/CPP certification.
  • Must have computer skills.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, obtain clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services and be drug free.
