Position description

Summer school teacher for youth residing at the Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan (TFH) facility. There will be approximately 4-6 students participating in the 2026 Summer Program. Personnel from TFH will provide additional support and assist with behavior management. The program schedule is as follows (tentatively): Start/End Date: June 15, 2026 - July 24, 2026 (may vary due to teacher availability) Weekly Schedule: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Tuesday-Friday Other Details: June 15 and July 13 are scheduled as teacher preparation and record keeping days (3 hours per day) Total Contract: 20 Half Days MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS: Valid Michigan Teacher’s Certificate with elementary or secondary endorsement Meets Michigan Highly Qualified Teacher Standards for this teaching position Ability to individualize and differentiate instruction Ability to work effectively as a collaborative team member

Experience working special education students Experience working with youth with significant mental health needs Knowledge of content area K-12 academics, daily living skills, and behavioral intervention plans/functional behavioral analysis Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, classroom management and organizational skills Ability to create experiential learning opportunities for diverse learners ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and implement daily lesson plans Keep accurate records of attendance and student progress Maintain frequent communication with Teaching Family Homes personnel Perform other duties as assigned SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Teaching site - Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan: Marquette location Perform position duties and functions while upholding confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information Regular and reliable attendance is required TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time position, between June 15 and July 24, 2026. Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to perform the functions of the position.
