Job description
- We are recruiting for a mission-driven Paramedic Instructor 1 to join our team! We're with you for life’s journey. Our Values Respect | Belonging | Accountability | Transparency Department EMS Education Job Summary Under minimal supervision, trains Denver Health Paramedic Division employees, Denver Fire Department employees, and members of the public in current pre-hospital emergency medical care theory and technique. Develops, designs, and implements new training courses. Researches and compiles information in instructional area. Accesses and prepares appropriate educational materials. Essential Functions: Assists in the monitoring of progress, needs and effectiveness of the following;
- Paramedic School clinical areas
- Paramedic School classroom schedule
- Paramedic School syllabus (90%) Train residents, medical students, and other health care professionals. (10%) Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Work Experience: 1-3 years in advanced life support ambulance experience required.
Licenses
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. EMTP-EMT Paramedic - CO - State of Colorado required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Patient Care
- Clinical evaluation and management of emergency medicine and observation care.
- Personnel management.
- Work-flow and quality improvement.
- Knowledge of medical and nursing principals, procedures, and community resources.
- Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams and formulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients.
- Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.
- Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.
- Physical health assessment skills.
- Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies.
- Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients and motivating patients to accept treatments. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Ability to prepare accurate reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other departments and the public. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
