Summary

The Safety & Health Compliance Specialist supports the Safety & Health team in maintaining compliance with safety regulations and health standards required by various states and school authorizers. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders to ensure schools meet all required compliance obligations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect, track, and maintain safety and health compliance documentation and other internal safety records.
  • Partner with Service Center Safety Specialists, school leadership, School Safety Specialists, and school office staff to ensure compliance with local, state, and school authorizer standards.
  • Works directly with NHA’s Compliance Team, ensuring that all compliance requirements are executed with fidelity.
  • Manages the collection of emergency drill schedules and the review and monitoring of school’s emergency drill logs throughout the school year.
  • Monitors safety & health compliance training through the Vector training platform.
  • Assists with ordering safety and health-related equipment for schools as needed, including epinephrine auto-injectors, AED batteries and pads, and bleed control kits.
  • Assists with coordination and monitoring of CPR training compliance.
  • Support, tracking, documentation, and follow-up related to student internet monitoring alerts and the visitor management process.
  • Maintains an active roster of school safety specialists, responds to safety team inbox inquiries, and indexes safety team training content emails.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years of professional experience preferred.
  • Experience in a health and safety environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

This is an in-person position at our NHA Service Center located at 3850 Broadmoor Ave., Grand Rapids, MI.
