Duties and Responsibilities
Meet the individual needs of the children Interact with children to support learning through play Be willing to learn and use the Conscious Discipline framework for social/emotional development Present expectations that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level Provide compassionate care in the areas of feeding, diapering, toilet training, etc. Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff Participate in staff and training meetings Complete annual required training hours as prescribed by the NC Division of Child Development Comply with school policies and procedures Perform other duties as needed Supervisory Responsibilities None QualificationsEducation and Experience An associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or a related field is preferred. Must be willing to earn NC Early Childhood Credential if needed. One year of teaching experience with infants or toddlers is preferred. Ongoing Requirements State and Federal Background checks are required at time of hire and every five years. Annual Health Questionnaire Health and safety training upon hire and every five years Education documentation submitted to the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education Skills Ability to be flexible, as every day is unique Possess a natural ability to engage and support young learners Proven interpersonal relations skills Communicate clearly and effectively with parents and colleagues Computer literate Exceptional organizational skills A propensity for working collaboratively with classroom team Adheres to the highest level of professionalism Working Conditions Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Easily able to move up and down off of floor, sit on floor, and bend over for extended periods. Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity. Frequently talk and hear. Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders. Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold. Long or odd hours, as needed.
