Job Description

Position Title: Mental Health Professional

Status: Full-time/Exempt

Position Reports to: Clinical Supervisor

Date Assuming Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Mental Health Professional will provide assessment, case management, crisis counseling, mental health and educational services to American Behavioral Health Systems Inpatient Co-Occurring clients.

Qualifications

Must have an MA degree in human services and meet the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) requirements for an Agency Affiliated Counselor or higher and Mental Health Professional (MHP) as per WAC 388-877.

ESENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following

1. Provides thorough intake assessment of client needs and treatment recommendations. Assists with appropriate referrals and linkage to internal and community resources and other treatment.

2. Develops measurable treatment objectives and obtainable goals to address identified needs within designated timeframes.

3. Monitors treatment progress and provides updates within identified timeframes

4. Performs trauma-informed, behavioral health counseling, utilizing evidence based practices.

5. Responds to crisis situations and triages appropriately. Facilitates emergency transportation if needed and communicates pertinent information to appropriate professional internally and externally.

6. Collaborates with other treatment providers in weekly team meetings.

7. Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by ABHS and external regulatory agencies.

8. Secures treatment funding through obtaining authorizations, accurate documentation, updating demographics and submitting authorization forms in a timely manner.

9. Performs other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.

Physical Demands

Must be able to use computer keyboard and view monitor for long periods of time.

Work Environment

Must be able to work independently; work and communicate with other professionals in an effective and professional manner; must have good time management skills and meet required deadlines; be able to work under stressful conditions;
