Provides and teaches age appropriate basic care for children, including feeding, hand-washing, changing diapers, and potty training. Performs student record keeping and communicates regularly with parents per Teacher instructions. Adheres to CDC and DSS safety guidelines and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum Years of Experience: None Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): None Required Certifications/Licensure: CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire and renewed biannually. Required Training: Employees in this role without 30 days experience must be supervised by senior staff.15 hours of DSS Training annually. Essential Functions Provides a safe and nurturing learning environment through responsive and sensitive care that is age and developmentally appropriate for the children in the classroom, collaborating with families to meet each child's individual needs. Provides and teaches age appropriate basic care for children, including feeding, hand-washing, changing diapers, potty training, etc. Performs basic housekeeping functions in the classroom to adhere to sanitary requirements. Assists with weekly lesson plans, maintains student portfolios, and performs essential record keeping. Introduces and establishes positive guidance techniques including self-talk, redirection, role play, discussion, and modeling positive behaviors.
Duties & Responsibilities
Builds positive relationships between the children, families, and team members. Implements teacher-led activities for physical movement both indoors and outdoors that are safely monitored through zoning, supervision and proper ratios. Utilizes the CDC's communications application, which includes attendance and transitions, recording lessons/activities, daily report/activity entries, and communication with families. Mentors and trains new staff to follow CDC expectations of executing routines that support a safe and positive classroom environment. Attends staff meetings/workshops and completes annual continuing education. Performs all other duties as assigned.
