Who We Are

Typical DAy as a School Age Lead Teacher Plan & implement the lesson plan and fun hands-on learning activities. Lead the group through weekly field trips to locations around the community, and ensure the children are supervised but having fun! Attend our Camp location, interact and supervise the students as they get to do typical camp activities such as archery, canoeing, and fishing! Swim with the kids or be on deck keeping them safe as they participate in free swim and swim lessons. Build relationships with students in your program, and their families. Send out daily parent communication and reminders. Play games, help kids build friendships, and be a positive role model for students. Serve snacks and lunches and do some light cleaning to make sure the space is clean and inviting. Keep group on task and inline with daily schedule. Shifts are typically flexible, and staff can expect between 28-35 hours per week depending on availability. Leads must be available M-F Requirements for School Age Lead Teacher job Must have a high school diploma or equivalent An understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior and developmentally appropriate practices. Prior School Age classroom/child care experience is preferred. Enroll in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases. (Covered by the YMCA) Warm and friendly personality and the willingness to interact with the children. Meet DCY licensing qualifications in training and background check.
