Position Type/Expected Hours of Work – Monday – Friday 7

  • 00 am – 3:30 pm; 12 months; flexible to the needs of the program; may be required to occasionally work after regular business hours. Qualifications – 5 years’ experience working in a NYS licensed daycare. Current First Aid, CPR and Medication Administration Training (MAT) Certification required. Experience in pediatric care. Valid Driver’s License. Work Authorization/Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States. Summary/Objective - Responsible for promoting health and safety with the children at Bright Beginnings Early Learning Center. Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases and spread of illness within the program. Supports Bright Beginnings program initiatives, policies and procedures. Performs duties in accordance with regulations of any and all programs through which the children are served: Office of Children & Family Services, NYS Education Department, NYS Department of Health, and NYS Department of Agriculture. Essential Functions – Serve as the programs’ designated Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified staff member, administering medications within scope of certification and maintaining required documentation. Ensure proper storage of all medication in accordance with prescribing instructions, Medication Administration Training (MAT) guidelines and OCFS. Responsible for ensuring all children have current and complete medical and emergency documentation on file, including physical examination, immunization records and individualized medical protocols in compliance with OCFS.   • Plan including: Following medical orders Applying exclusion criteria for illness Determining readiness for safe return to classroom setting Provide basic first aid and emergency response to children following established protocols Develop, coordinate and deliver staff training on health and safety practices including: Diapering and toileting procedures Infection control and hand hygiene Cleaning and sanitizing toys, equipment and classroom materials OCFS-mandated health and safety standards Conduct routine health and safety monitoring of classrooms and common areas to ensure compliance with sanitation, supervision and safety requirements Maintain and routinely inspect emergency equipment, including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) unit, ensuring it is functional, in-date, and compliant with regulatory standards Order and manage inventory of health, safety and medical supplies, including first aid materials, PPE and sanitation products. Oversee compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program, including maintaining accurate documentation of meals and snacks, ensuring adherence to nutritional guidelines and portion requirements and coordinating the planning and safe distribution of food within the program all under the guidance of USDA. Responsible for working with departments within The Arc JSLC for implementation of the Guardian Angel’s Blessings Bag Program Attend and satisfactorily complete all required training and in-services.
