- Category: Health CareGENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION This position is responsible for providing direct occupational therapeutic services to children for acquisition and mastery of functional skills in order to reduce or overcome limitations resulting from disabilities or developmental delays. This position evaluates, assesses, develops, and carries out treatment plans, documents progress and required processes, educates families and community partners and collaborates with physicians and other care providers. Occupational Therapists at Brighton Center are hired to serve the organization as a whole. Program placement (e.g., Pediatric Therapy Clinic or Early Childhood/Early Intervention services) is determined following the interview process based on candidate strengths, experience, and organizational need. Services are delivered in a variety of settings aligned with Brighton Center's programs and may include clinic, home, community or natural environments. This role requires flexibility, independent work, and travel within the service area. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This position requires face to face interactions with staff, board, vendors, and the general public on a daily basis to accomplish all essential functions of the position. EVALUATIONS & PLAN OF CARE Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and assess children using standardized assessment tools and clinical judgment. Accurately score evaluations, determine service eligibility or medical necessity as applicable, and appropriately share results with families or caregivers. Develop individualized treatment plans or contribute to IFSP/POC development by identifying functional goals, outcomes, and intervention strategies that reflect family priorities and child needs. Submit all required evaluation and planning documentation within established timelines and program deadlines. SERVICE DELIVERY & TREATMENT IMPLEMENTATION Provides individualized, direct therapy services to children with disabilities or developmental delays, in accordance with established treatment plans, Plans of Care (POC) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) as applicable. Implement evidence-based, family-centered, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions that support functional independence and participation in daily routines Ensures the completion of all authorized therapy visits or units within the authorization timeframe, proactively managing scheduling and providing necessary make-up sessions for missed appointments. Equips families and caregivers with effective strategies to empower them to enhance the child's community participation. Maintains comprehensive, accurate, and timely documentation of all services rendered, ensuring full compliance with agency policies, Medicaid guidelines, and private insurance standards and regulations. OTHER FUNCTIONS Participates in monthly team meetings, discipline, agency, and staffing meetings to ensure family and child outcomes are met and required information is secured. Other duties to support the delivery and quality of services that are provided to Brighton families.
- Qualifications
- Required: Degreed and current Texas Licensure in occupational therapy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Access as well as Adobe.
Preferred
- Prior experience in ECI, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a family-centered service organization. Bilingual in Spanish. NECESSARY SKILLS
