Description Job Summary
Coordinate and administer the religious education program at St. Joseph Parish. This position is a part-time position.
- Ministerial Character The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the St.
- Joseph Parish which the Bishop has entrusted to him.
- He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish.
- In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people).
- He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
- Positions employed at St.
- Joseph Parish help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description.
- Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Essential Job Duties
- As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Joseph Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
- These requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position:
- Administer the religious education program for the parish, including the following: o Maintain enrollment records including registration and attendance o Monitor religious education instructors and ensure adherence to Diocesan requirements for classroom teaching and sacramental preparation; ensure attendance for religious education classes and programs and support the instructors with materials, space, time and volunteer resources to fulfill the program. o Set the calendar for the religious education program and sacramental preparation and the parish celebrations of the sacraments in consultation with the Pastor. o Maintain communication with the families and participants in the religious education program to ensure participation in the Catechetical program o Evaluate the Catechetical program with families and participants in relation to the goals and objectives and strategies set out for the program.
- Ability to assist the Pastor and the Church staff in making informed decisions concerning the Catechetical Program and other religious education matters.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effective (both orally and in writing) with the Church Community;
- Ability to abide by the moral and ethical norms of the Roman catholic church and to share in the same general convenant relationship to minister to the people of God and to model to the larger community the teachings of the Church; and
- Such alternatives to the above requirements as the Pastor of the Church may deem reasonably appropriate and acceptable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and Trainings:
- Training and education in administrative skills and computer programs
- Expectation of training by the Diocese for Religious Education programs Experience:
- Experience in organizing, implementing and supervising programs.
- Ability to organize, document and communicate with program participants and families.
Language
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable but not required
- Catholic
- Requirement:
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
Working conditions
· All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church. · The Parish is an at-will employer. · All buildings and vehicles owned by the Parish are tobacco free. · Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly. · Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required. · Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations. · Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards. · May be required to use personal or parish vehicle to drive to off-site locations.
