NC PreK Lead Teacher -- Southport, North Carolina

Your Role as an NC Pre-K Lead Teacher

  • We are on the lookout for dedicated professionals like YOU to oversee classroom activities, adhering to standards set by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education, and aligning with the objectives of the current NC Pre-K Curriculum.
  • Your role involves creating a nurturing and positive environment for our children and their families, fostering strong bonds and supporting their comprehensive development.
  • You will be responsible for designing and executing learning experiences that encompass a broad range of developmental areas including physical health, social-emotional growth, cognitive skills, and creative expression.
  • Moreover, you'll conduct regular assessments to monitor the children's progress towards School Readiness Goals, tailoring the curriculum to meet the individual needs of each child, including those with disabilities.
  • Upholding health and safety protocols is paramount in your role, ensuring a secure and clean environment by adhering to strict procedures for hygiene, food handling, illness management, and child supervision.
  • Your dedication to these responsibilities will be instrumental in guiding our young learners towards a bright future.

What your day looks like

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities for the NC PreK classroom
  • Keep the classroom safe, organized, and compliant with licensing and ratio requirements
  • Observe and document each child's development and share progress with families regularly
  • Build relationships with parents through daily communication and scheduled conferences
  • Complete required documentation including attendance, incident reports, and assessments

Pay and benefits

Pay

30-50/annually Follows State guided NC PreK Teacher salary based on years of experience and WORKS level education credential

Qualifications

You Might Be the Perfect Fit if You

  • Are at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have a minimum of one year's experience in preschool teaching. Additionally, you must hold a Bachelor's Degree and be actively pursuing either NC Birth through Kindergarten (B-K) or Preschool Add-on Standard Professional II licensure.
  • Your qualifications must include one of the following: an NC Initial Provisional Lateral Entry B-K License, a North Carolina K-6 license with a provisional Preschool Add-on license, a license from another state accompanied by an NC Provisional B-K license, or a degree in a related field that qualifies you for an NC Initial Provisional Lateral Entry B-K License.
  • Have genuine empathy and understanding of children's needs and development.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to meet community needs and respond to changing circumstances.
