Job description

The Royals Summer Camp Assistant position is a seasonal, part-time summer role dedicated to supporting elementary-age students in a safe, structured, and engaging camp environment. This position is responsible for interacting and engaging with children and supervising them throughout daily activities, and maintaining positive communication with families and staff. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, sound judgment, and a heart for working with children. Royals Club Assistants are expected to ensure the safety, accountability, and well-being of every child in their care.

Duties & Responsibilities

Able to communicate with parents in a positive and empowering manner Manage and control program and children with wisdom Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents and staff Arrives for scheduled shifts on time Ability to assess a situation and act quickly and efficiently Ensure children are signed in to the Summer Program Make sure children are signed out each day Organizational skills are needed to maintain the program Ability/willingness to be flexible to change as situations present themselves Demonstrates competency, good judgment, and self control Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience Recognize the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures Not abuse, neglect, or exploit children. Must report suspected abuse to CPS. Know which children you are accountable for Know every child’s name and grade Supervise children at all times, adjusting to each child’s different age and ability Ensure that children are not out of control Be free from duties not directly involving the children, such as personal use of electronic devices You must interact with children in a positive way Ability to work as a part of a team, clear communication between staff You must know indoor and outdoor layout of after school care spaces Be aware of neighborhood circumstances, hazards, and risk
