Overview
Provides attentive care of young children in a private household, focusing on their safety and well-being. This position supports the household by ensuring children are engaged in activities and routines.
Schedule and Availability
- We are looking for individuals who we can contact on an as-needed basis to provide childcare support for the family.
- This position offers a highly flexible, on-call schedule based on the family’s needs and the caregiver’s availability.
- Coverage may be needed for mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and school breaks, with hours varying from week to week.
- Advance notice will be provided whenever possible.
- Ideal candidates are dependable, responsive, and comfortable with a flexible schedule.
- Occasional overnight or extended-hour coverage may be requested with prior discussion and mutual agreement.
What You'll Do
- Childcare Duties
- Tend to the basic physical, emotional, and safety needs of children.
- Assist children with homework and school projects in a supportive manner.
- Schedule and prepare children for appointments and activities.
- Oversee and coordinate play activities, play dates, and outings.
- Provide transportation for children as required by their schedules.
- Engage children in various activities, including creative play, arts and crafts, and games.
- Travel with the family as needed to provide childcare.
- Enforce good manners and discipline, following parents’ guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with parent(s) and household staff about the children’s daily activities
- Household Support
- Perform basic household duties such as loading/unloading the dishwasher, wiping down surfaces, and managing laundry.
- Maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and safety of children’s rooms, play areas, and common areas.
- Assist with meal and snack preparation for the family.
- Prepare and pack children’s lunch and/or snacks for the next day.
- Handle daily care of pets, including walks and grooming appointments.
- Run child-related or household errands and organize household items.
- Retain and submit receipts for credit card purchases and complete online expense reports.
- Perform special projects as requested to ensure smooth household operations.
What You'll Bring
- A degree or equivalent experience in education or child development is preferred; previous nanny or babysitter experience is preferred.
- Experience planning creative play and educational activities for children.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic knowledge of Apple and Mac products.
