  • Summary: We are seeking energetic, responsible, and nurturing Mountain Adventure Camp Instructors to join our Mountain Sports School summer team. This role blends the care, safety, and developmental support of children with the adventure, movement, and exploration of an outdoor mountain camp. Staff will provide a safe, structured, and engaging experience for children ages 7–12 through daily outdoor programming, games, and skill-building activities. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, thrives in outdoor environments, and is excited to help deliver a fun, safe, and memorable summer camp experience in a mountain setting. This seasonal position is part of the Mountain Sports School summer operations team and may assist with additional activities or special events as needed throughout the summer season. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and actively monitor children at all times, ensuring their safety indoors and outdoors Maintain awareness of camper location, behavior, and participation throughout the day Follow all Mountain Sports School safety policies, procedures, and emergency protocols Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, and behavioral situations, including completing required documentation and incident reporting Lead and participate in outdoor games, exploration activities, and mountain-based programming Support delivery of weekly themed camp activities such as hiking, nature discovery, teamwork challenges, and outdoor skill-building Adapt activities based on weather, terrain, and group needs while maintaining safety standards Encourage curiosity, confidence, teamwork, and respect for the natural environment Implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and social development Provide emotional support and positive guidance to help children navigate group dynamics and build interpersonal skills Assist with daily camp routines including transitions, snacks/lunch support, and attendance tracking Maintain clean and organized program areas and care for equipment and materials Assist with set-up and clean-up of daily activity spaces and program equipment Support before and after camp programming when required Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding camper experiences, behavior, and needs as appropriate Work collaboratively with fellow staff and camp leadership to ensure smooth program delivery Participate in staff training, meetings, and ongoing program development QualificationsJob Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Age requirement of 18+ Previous experience working with children in daycare, camps, recreation, education, or similar settings preferred Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date) Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing conditions Patience, responsibility, and a genuine interest in working with children Other Requirements: Ability to drive and pass insurance driving history inquiry Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions Working weekends/holidays/times of day Ability to walk, hike, and remain active for extended periods throughout the day
