Title: Instructional Aide / Assistant

Reports to: TEACHER

Department: Title 5 / Title 22 Schools and Child Care Centers

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate Range: $19-22 an hour

The instructional aide promotes the mission and vision of children of the rainbow. Responsible for the general supervision, care and instruction of infants, toddlers and pre-School children. Dedicated to creating a nurturing learning atmosphere for every child. Supports the teacher and site supervisor to provide the highest quality inclusive family-Centered services.

Responsibilities: And duties:

1. Assist teachers with the implementation of Creative Curriculum in a way that is consistent and responsive to the unique needs of each child.

2. Assist Teacher’s with the implementation of assessments such as ASQ’s and DRDPs.

3. Assist Teacher with the implementation of QPI and QRS quality Preschool Initiatives.

4. Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn.

5. Partner with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children.

6. Develop positive relationships with families and peers.

7. Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.

8. Follows daily schedules.,

9. Be familiar with and follow all school policies and licensing regulations.

10. Report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect.

11. Assists with decorating the class.

12. Keeps classrooms clean, sanitized and orderly.

13. Daily cleaning of table, chairs, cubbies and toys.

14. Sanitizes tables, cubbies, chairs and toys weekly.

15. Practice universal precautions daily.

16. Meeting children’s basic needs (diapers, feeding, attention, etc.).

17. Maintain professional growth through continuing education per Children of the Rainbow standards.

18. Must attend and participate in all designated mandatory workshops / training in-house or within the community.

19. Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum qualifications

Education level

High school diploma or equivalent.

6 units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development or enrolled in 6 units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development by the following school semester.

ESL completion or in process of completion.

Experience

Six months previous childcare experience desired.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must pass a background Criminal Investigation Check.

Must pass pre employment physical.

Must pass T.B. test.

Immunizations MMR and DTAP

Must be able to obtain American Red Cross first Aid and CPR Certification within 60 days of hire.

Must be available to work a flexible and variable schedule.

Must complete Mandated Reporter Educator Training within 30 days of hire.

Specific skills

Strong verbal skills are required.

A basic understanding of child development and developmental milestones.
